KASA’s Policy Directions for Korea to Emerge as One of the World’s Top 5 Aerospace Powerhouses
Innovation Strengthening the role as a national aerospace policy control tower

Establish an aerospace system and infrastructure that accommodate various stakeholders and the evolving environment to lay the foundation for the maturation of the aerospace economy and expand its boundaries

  • Oversee the national aerospace policies
    • Governance : Play a central role in systematizing space policy governance, including linking the National Space Council and the Policy Review Board
    • Enhance support for government-funded organizations and universities : Identify key missions for each entity and assisting them in fulfilling their roles in pioneering the future of aerospace
    • Basic research : Enhance support for fundamental research, including the scientific exploration of solar system planets, the advancement of astronomy and space science, aerospace materials research, and extreme environment studies
  • Reorganize laws and systems of the aerospace sector and increase investment
    • Laws and systems : Revise and streamline fragmented and redundant laws and systems in the aerospace sector
    • Investment strategy : Enhance efficiency by establishing “KASA’s investment direction” in parallel with the investment goals for the space sector
    • Aerospace fund : Establish a mid- to long-term operation plan for the aerospace fund stipulated by law (2H 2024)
  • Strengthen space security
    • Space security : Protect and efficiently utilize space assets, take leadership in space security in collaboration with the security ministry (establishment of new regulations), and actively participate in discussions on international norms (from 2025)
    • Space safety : Establish and implement the Master Plan for Space Safety to respond to increasing threats to space assets and the rapidly changing environment
    • Space cooperation : Establish a preemptive strategy to secure a leading position in international space cooperation on the international stage, which is still in the early stages of discussion
  • Nurture aerospace talents and propagate aerospace culture
    • Talents nurturing : Conduct a comprehensive program (“We Aerospace”) for nurturing talents in the aerospace field by linking elementary, middle, and high schools, universities, and the industry
    • Propagation of aerospace culture : Promote the general public’s understanding of space and introduce public participation projects
  • Operate an organization that leads government innovation
    • Government innovation model : Lead government innovation by presenting a flexible civil service organization model centered on missions, and play a central role in fostering new industries and engaging in international cooperation
