Article 1 of the Special Act on the Establishment and Operation of the Korea AeroSpace Administration
The Korea AeroSpace Administration shall secure innovative technologies through the development of aerospace technology, promote the aerospace industry, and implement policies and projects to protect the public from space hazards.
Functions of KASA (Article 7 of the Special Act on the Establishment and Operation of the Korea AeroSpace Administration)
Establish and coordinate aerospace-related policies
Conduct research and development in the aerospace field and secure core technologies
Develop and utilize space resources
Foster and promote the aerospace industry
Promote civil-military cooperation and international cooperation related to aerospace
Nurture talents and expand the base in the aerospace field
Conduct observation and research of astronomical phenomena and space environment
Prepare for disasters caused by changes in the space environment, such as sunspots and the Earth’s magnetic field, and hazards including falls and collisions of objects in space
Operate and support the National Space Council pursuant to Article 6 (1) of the Space Development Promotion Act
Matters related to the management of space assets and space security, as determined by the Administrator of KASA in consultation with the heads of relevant central administrative agencies (excluding diplomatic matters related to national security and matters related to purely national defense purposes)
Other matters prescribed by this Act or other laws as affairs of KASA
